
On the afternoon of March 19, the Chongqing Tchaikovsky College at Chongqing Normal University was officially unveiled. Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, met with Alexander Sokolov, Rector of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and his delegation, and attended the unveiling ceremony.

Dmitry Petrov, Deputy Consul General of Russia in Wuhan; Wang Jiayi, Member of the Leading Party Members Group, Vice Minister, and Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Education; Chen Xinwu, Deputy Secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee; and Liu Shangjin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee, Secretary-General, and Director of the Municipal Political and Legal Affairs Commission, attended the event.
At the unveiling ceremony, Margarita Karatygina, Vice Rector of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, read a congratulatory letter from Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, addressed to the Chongqing Tchaikovsky College.
Yuan Jiajun, on behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, welcomed Alexander Sokolov and his delegation to Chongqing and expressed gratitude to the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory for its active promotion of bilateral cooperation.
Yuan stated that advancing the construction of the Chongqing Tchaikovsky College is a pragmatic action to implement the important consensus reached by the heads of state of China and Russia, and a vital vehicle for deepening people-to-people and cultural exchanges and fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.
Currently, the entire city is thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. In accordance with the deployment of the 15th Five-Year Plan outline, Chongqing is accelerating the enhancement of the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin City Economic Circle's development capabilities, cultivating new quality productive forces according to local conditions, and continuously building a strategic hub linking the three major markets of Europe, China, and ASEAN. The city is actively exploring new paths for modern governance in mega-cities, speeding up the construction of a leading cultural city in the new era, and solidly promoting municipal practices of Chinese-style modernization.
Yuan emphasized that artistic development plays a crucial role in shaping a city's character and is of great significance for promoting a modernization that harmonizes material and cultural-ethical advancement. Chongqing is willing to work with the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory to take the important consensus of the two heads of state as the fundamental guideline, continuously deepen pragmatic cooperation in talent cultivation, discipline construction, and cultural exchanges, and make new contributions to the high-quality development of Russia-China relations.
Alexander Sokolov, Dmitry Petrov, and Margarita Karatygina thanked Chongqing for its high level of attention and strong support for the cooperative school-running project. They stated that, through the joint efforts of all parties, the project has progressed smoothly, laying a solid foundation for deepening cooperation in various fields between Russia and China in the next step. The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory will strengthen communication and coordination with Chongqing, continuously deepen pragmatic cooperation in talent cultivation and cultural exchanges, and contribute greater strength to promoting cultural and artistic exchanges between Russia and China.
Wang Jiayi noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation Between the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation. President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin announced in their exchange of New Year messages that the two countries will hold the "China-Russia Year of Education" in 2026–2027, providing fundamental guidance for strengthening pragmatic cooperation in education and other fields.
Wang stated that the Ministry of Education will continue to support the construction of the Chongqing Tchaikovsky College at Chongqing Normal University, striving to build it into a major hub for music talent cultivation. Simultaneously, using the college as a platform, the Ministry will conduct more activities under the framework of the "China-Russia Year of Education" to make positive contributions to the enduring friendship between Russia and China.
Representatives from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, relevant departments of the Ministry of Education, and relevant municipal departments and universities attended the event.
