On May 11-13, the 2025 International Joint Conference on Rough Sets (“IJCRS 2025”), co-organized by the International Rough Set Society, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Chongqing Normal University, andCCAI Granular Computing and Knowledge Discovery Special Committeewas held in Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications. President and Professor Wang Guoyin of Chongqing Normal University, President and Professor Gao Xinbo of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Professor JinTao Yao from the University of Regina, Canada, Professor Miao Duoqian from Tongji University, Professor Hu Qinghua from Tianjin University, ProfessorChris Cornelis from Ghent University, Belgium, Professor Li Tianrui from Southwest Jiaotong University, among other guests, attended the conference.

On the morning of May 11, Professor Wang Guoyin made an address as the chairman of the conference at the opening ceremony, and extended, on behalf of the organization committee, gratitude to all leaders and guests for presence atthe conference. He also noted that the conference, as an important platform for in-depth exchange and cooperation between experts and scholars from related fields, would play a significant role inpropelling the theoretical innovation and development of rough sets, push the boundaries of their application, facilitate interdisciplinary integration and promote technological innovation capacity.

The conference consisted of several procedures, including keynote speeches, special tutorials, seminars, and sub-forum reports, and invited many domestic and foreign experts to function in key roles such as the chairmen of procedural committees and local organization committees.
At the keynote speech procedure, many internationally renowned scholars shared their frontier academic achievements, including ProfessorJingTao Yao with a report titled“Rough Sets, Three-way Decisions and Federated Learning”, Professor Yao Yiyu with a report titled“Theory of Three-way Decision”, Professor Miao Duoqian with a report titled“Advances in Brain Visual Encoding and Decoding Research”, Professor Hu Qinghua with a report titled“Socialized Machine Learning: A New Framework of Swarm Evolution”, Professor Chris Cornelis with a report titled“Linking Fuzzy Sets, Rough Sets and Granular Computing: Achievements and Challenges”, and Professor Li Tianrun with a report titled“Hierarchical Learning for 3D Visual Intelligence”.

The special tutorial procedure centered on three subjects, i.e.“three-way decision”,“rough set” and“granular-ball computing”, was intended to shed light on the rough set theory, as well as core concepts and technical know-how in relevant fields of expansion, through elaboration of well-experienced experts and scholars with high academic attainments.

During the conference, multiple rounds of seminars and sub-forums were held for discussion and in-depth exchange about soft computing and crossing of generation methods, soft clustering applications, mathematical foundation for artificial intelligence and machine learning and other topics. Professor Wang Guoyin introduced the construction and goals of CNU’s center for interdisciplinary research on braincognition and rehabilitation of special children, and invited the experts present at the conference to have a look at CNU's research results in brain cognition andrehabilitation of special children and to visit the university for exchange.

On the afternoon of May 13, the Conference was concluded as a success. By providing a platform for exchange and cooperation between global experts and scholars, the Conference was also constructive to promoting innovative development and practical application of the rough set theory, and interdisciplinary integration. As a co-organizer of the Conference, CNU will exert its disciplinary strengths, and play an active part in attending and hosting international activities, so as to contribute to academic progress and social development.
