On December 10, the departure ceremony for the first group of volunteers of the China (Chongqing) Youth Volunteer Overseas Service Program for Bangladesh was held at Chongqing Normal University. The event was presided over by Xu Kesong, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League Chongqing Municipal Committee, with officials from relevant departments and more than 200 students in attendance.
Coordinated by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Ministry of Commerce and implemented by the Communist Youth League Chongqing Municipal Committee, the program aims to build a bridge of friendship between young people amid the 50th anniversary of China-Bangladesh diplomatic relations and Bangladesh being the first South Asian country to join the Belt and Road Initiative. After selection, three students from Chongqing Normal University will carry out six months of volunteer services in Chinese language teaching and new media operation in Bangladesh.
The organizers provided pre-departure training and material support for the volunteers. Leaders attending the ceremony encouraged them to act as envoys of national image and cultural exchanges, serve the local community with professionalism, and contribute to China-Bangladesh friendship and the development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
