Approved by the Ministry of Education, P.R. China, Chongqing Normal University (hereafter as CNU) enrolls international students for Chinese language studies throughout the year. According to the students' Chinese proficiency upon admission, the university offers multi-level small-class teaching, covering zero-level, beginner, intermediate and advanced courses. ⅠAdmission Requirements:
Applicants should be between 18 and 50, in sound health, andbe friendly to China.
Ⅱ Application Procedures:
1.Application Period:
Language programs:
Autumn Semester (September - January) application period: March 1, 2026-June 30, 2026.
Spring Semester (March - June) application period: September 1, 2026-December 31, 2026.
Notes:applicants should submit the applications at least two months before the new semester starts.
2.Online Application
Log in to the "Chongqing Normal University International Student Online Service System" (website:http://foreignstudent.cqnu.edu.cn) and submit therequired materials.
3.Application Materials
(1)Chongqing Normal University ApplicationForm.
(2) Copy of passport (if applicants have a history of coming to China, please submit the Chinese visa page).
(3)Highest diploma attained or proof of study (notarized photocopy).Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese orinEnglish.
(4)Transcripts (notarized photocopyin Chinese or in English).
(5)Study plan (written in Chinese or English,no less than 1000 words/characters).
(6)Language proficiency certificate:HSK and HSKKCertificate.
(7)Two letters of recommendation.
(8)Foreigner Physical Examination Form,together with the original copy.The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The medical examination results are valid only6months.
(9)Non-CriminalRecord,issued by the local public security (such as the police station), It is usually issued within6months prior to the submission date of the application.
(10)Bank deposit certificate (no less than 25,000 RMBin principle).
(11)Resume.
(12)Scholarship application table if applicants apply for scholarships.

4.Admission Assessment
The university will conduct a comprehensive review and assessment of applicants, and organize relevant interviews (written exams) for selective admission. Please attend on time after receiving the assessment notice. Specific arrangements will be notified by email. Please ensure the accuracy of your email address.
5.Admission
Qualified applicants will receive electronic copies of the Admission Notice and the Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China(JW 201/JW202/DQ Form).
Admitted Students can download the admission notice through the "Chongqing Normal University International Student Online Service System" (website:http://foreignstudent.cqnu.edu.cn), and download the Visa Application Form forForeign Students Studying in China(JW 201/JW202/DQ Form) through“Study in China" website (https://www.studyinchina.edu.cn/visaAssistant/howGet).
6.Visa Application
Students should apply for an X1/X2 visa at the Chinese embassy (consulate) in their home country with the above admission notice and visa application form.
7.Registration
Admitted students should register at the university in accordance with the time specified in the admission notice. The original graduation certificate will be verified upon registration. Those who fail to obtain the corresponding certificate will have their admission qualification revoked. Admitted students should register at the university with the admission notice, passport, JW201/JW202/DQ Form, original physical examination record, and 6 two-inch bareheaded photos on the specified date, and pay the tuition and accommodation fees.

Ⅳ Tuition and other fee
1. Tuition (Chinese currency):
7,000RMB per semester, 14,000RMB per academic year.
2. Accommodation Fee :
All students should will be arranged to live in the international students apartment.
Double room:with two beds, a bathroom, a refrigerator, an air conditioner, internet,etc. 5400RMB per academic year per person.
The electric fee and water fee will be paid in actual usage.
3.Application Fee
Applicants should pay 400 RMB for the registration fee. The registration fee will not be refunded, regardless of whether applicants are admitted or not.
4.Visa Fee
400 RMB for X1 visa (180 days to one year), and 168 RMB for X2 visa(less than 180 days). In order to submit all the documents for visa, applicants also need health check in designated Hospital and visa photo in Chongqing, which may cost 400 RMB and 30 RMB, respectively.
5.Comprehensive Medical Insurance Fee
800 RMB for a year. All international students should buy comprehensive medical insurance. The reimbursement is subject to Chinese Insurance laws and regulation.
Ⅴ Scholarship

1. Chinese Government Scholarship

(4)Eligibility
● Scholarship for One-Year Study Program
Applicants of international Chinese language education programs shall have a minimum score of 270 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required. Applicants of Chinese language and literature, Chinese history, or Chinese philosophy programs shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 4) and 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level). Applicants of Chinese language study programs shall have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK test (Level 3), and priority will be given to applicants who provide an HSKK test score.
● Scholarship for One-Semester Study Program
Applicants of international Chinese language education, Chinese language and literature, Chinese history, or Chinese philosophy programs shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required. Applicants of traditional Chinese medicine or Taiji culture programs are required to provide HSK test scores, and priority will be given to those who also provide an HSKK test score.
● Scholarship for Four-Week Study Program
Applicants are required to provide an HSK test score. The program may be organized and applied for byConfuciusInstitutionswith 10-15 participants per group. Before the trip, a detailed study plan shall be made in consultation with theChongqing Normal Universityand such plan shall be submitted to the Center for Language Education and Cooperation for review and approval.
