I. Application Requirements

1.Be a non-Chinese citizen(For applicants who are immigrants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan and have obtained foreign nationality, or those who were born with foreign nationality because both or one of their parents is a Chinese citizen and resides abroad, they must meet the requirements of Document No.12 [2020] issued by theMinistry of Education, P.R. China).

2.Be physically and mentally healthy, and aged between 18 and 25 years old，be friendly to China.

3.Holda high school graduation certificate recognized by the Chinese government.

4.Meet the Chinese language requirement: HSK Level 4 with a score of 180 or above.

5.Hold a score certificate of the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA Exam).(The specific CSCA exam subjects are detailed in theCategory of Bachelor’s Programs).

II. Admission Process

1. Take the "China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA)"

(1) All international students applying for undergraduate programs at Chongqing Normal University must take and pass the CSCA. For detailed introduction and registration methods of CSCA, please visit the official website (www.csca.cn).

(2) Notes

Applicants for all undergraduate majors should take Professional Chinese and Mathematics. Among them, applicants for science, engineering, and agriculture majors should take either Physics or Chemistry, including Professional Chinese and Mathematics. Specific exam subjects are detailed in the Category of Bachelor’s Programs.

The Professional Chinese exam is divided into two categories: "HumanitiesChinese" and "STEM Chinese". Specific exam subjects are detailed in theCategory of Bachelor’s Programs.

Students applying for the undergraduate programs of "Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages" or "Chinese Language and Literature" can be exempted from the "HumanitiesChinese" subject if they submit an HSK Level 4 score of 180 or above.

Special Note: The CSCA score is an important reference for the university to assess the applicant's academic ability. Please make thorough preparations for the exam. To ensure a smooth application process, it is recommended to take the CSCA as early as possible and submit the score in a timely manner to reserve sufficient time for subsequent review procedures.

2. Online Application

(1) Application Period: January 1, 2026 - June 30, 2026.

(2) Log in to the "Chongqing Normal University International Student Online Service System" (website:http://foreignstudent.cqnu.edu.cn) and submit therequired materials.

(3) Applicants should accurately fill in the online application information and provide true materials as required. Any failure to register as required, incorrect filling of online information, or submission of false information resulting in inability to take the exam or be admitted shall be the responsibility of the applicant.

3. Participate in Admission Assessment (Interview or Written Exam)

The university will conduct a comprehensive review and assessment of applicants, and organize relevant interviews (written exams) for selective admission. Please attend on time after receiving the assessment notice. Specific arrangements will be notified by email. Please ensure the accuracy of your email address.

4.Admission

Qualified applicants will receive electronic copies of the Admission Notice andthe Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China(JW 201/JW202/DQ Form).

Admitted Students can download the admission notice through the "Chongqing Normal University International Student Online Service System" (website:http://foreignstudent.cqnu.edu.cn), and downloadthe Visa Application Form forForeign Students Studying in China(JW 201/JW202/DQ Form)through “Study in China" website (https://www.studyinchina.edu.cn/visaAssistant/howGet).

5. Visa Application

Students should apply for an X1 visa at the Chinese embassy (consulate) in their home country with the above admission notice and visa application form.

6.Registration

Admitted students should register at the university in accordance with the time specified in the admission notice. The original graduation certificate will be verified upon registration. Those who fail to obtain the corresponding certificate will have their admission qualification revoked. Admitted students should register at the university with the admission notice, passport, JW201/JW202/DQ Form, original physical examination record, and 6 two-inch bareheaded photos on the specified date, and pay the tuition and accommodation fees.

III. Application Materials

1.Chongqing Normal University International Student Application Form.

2. Thecertificate of the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA Exam).

3. Copy of passport (if you have a history of coming to China, please submit the Chinese visa page).

4. Notarized highest academic certificate. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

5. Notarized academic transcripts. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

6. Personal study plan (no less than 1000 words), written in Chinese or English.

7. Language Language proficiency certificate. (applicants for undergraduate programs need to provide an HSK Level 4 score certificate of 180 or above).

8. Two recommendation letters.

9.Foreigner Physical Examination Recordwith the official seal of a public hospital. Original laboratory test reports for sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS and syphilis, and hepatitis B must be attached. The validity period is 6 months.

10. Certificate of no criminal record.

11. Bank deposit certificate (a deposit certificate in local currency equivalent to no less than 25,000 RMB).

12. Personal resume.

13. If applying for a scholarship, submit the scholarship application form (such asChinese Government Scholarship Application Form,International Chinese Teacher Scholarship Application Form,Chongqing Municipal People's Government Mayor Scholarship Application Form for International Students,Chongqing Normal University President Scholarship Application Form).

14. Personal works. Applicants for art, design and other related majors should provide personal works (such as reproductions of paintings or video materials).

Note: All notarized materials or other documents should be in Chinese or English translations.

VI. Scholarship Application

All international students applying to study at our university can apply for one of the following scholarships: Chinese Government Scholarship, International Chinese Teachers Scholarship, Chongqing Municipal People's Government Mayor Scholarship for International Students, or Chongqing Normal University President Scholarship. The coverage of scholarship should be not longer than the normal years for undergraduate program.

1. Chinese Government Scholarship

(1) Application time:

Chinese Government Scholarship Type A: Apply according to the time of each program.

Chinese Government Scholarship Type B: January 1 - March 20.January 1, 2026 to March 1, 2026.

(2) Basic information of scholarship

Full scholarship:exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, on-campus accommodation fee,and Comprehensive Medical Insurance in China; and provide the living allowance (2500 RMB per month for Bachelor student).

Partial scholarship:One or some items of the full scholarship.

(3)Eligibility

Providea high school graduation certificate recognized by the Chinese government.

Hold HSK Level 4 with a score of 180 or above.

Providea score certificate of the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA Exam).

2. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

(1) Application time:

May 15, 2026 (For Bachelor programs commencing in September)

(2)Scholarship Coverage

Scholarships provide registration fee, tuition fee, accommodation fee, living allowance (2500 RMB per month) and comprehensive medical insurance fee.

Providea high school graduation certificate recognized by the Chinese government.

HoldHSK Level 4 with a score of210or aboveand HSKK.

Providea score certificate of the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA Exam).

3. Chongqing Municipal Mayor Scholarship

(1) Application time: March 1, 2026 - May 30, 2026

(2) Basic information of scholarship

25000 RMB /Per Year for Bachelor’s Program

(3)Eligibility

Providea high school graduation certificate recognized by the Chinese government.

HoldHSK Level 4 with a score of210or above.

Providea score certificate of the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA Exam).

4. CNU President Scholarship

(1) Application time: March 1, 2026 - May 30, 2026

(2) Scholarship Coverage

First class: free of tuition fee, accommodation fee (one room with four beds),registration fee,with the living allowance 400 RMB per month (applicants can apply the first class scholarship if he or she has studied at least one year for Bachelor’s programs in Chongqing Normal University) .

Second class: free of tuition feeand registration fee(applicants who apply for the first year of Bachelor’s programs can only apply the second class scholarship).

Special Notes:

1.The admission conditions for program students shall be implemented in accordance with the terms of the relevant program agreements.

2.All undergraduate programs for international students are taught in Chinese, with a duration of 4 years.

3.The application conditions and materials for scholarships may vary depending on the applied project, subject to the requirements of the admission brochures for various scholarships announced each year.
