Delegation from Chongqing Normal University Visits Papua New Guinea University of Technology to Advance In-Depth Educational Cooperation

From November 4 to 8, Professor Fu Wensheng, Vice President of Chongqing Normal University, led a delegation to visit the University of Technology Papua New Guinea (UTPNG) upon invitation. During the visit, the Confucius Institute Board Meeting was held, and memoranda of understanding and relevant cooperation agreements between the two universities were signed.

   


On November 4, the delegation visited Butuka Academy, the Confucius Institute teaching site in the capital of Papua New Guinea, toured the campus and exchanged with students. The UTPNG side stated that it would select more outstanding students to pursue further studies at Chongqing Normal University, and the delegation briefed on the latest progress in volunteer dispatch. In the afternoon, the delegation paid a visit to the Chinese Embassy in Papua New Guinea and reported the purpose of the visit and the recent development of the Confucius Institute at UTPNG. The embassy officials highly recognized the achievements of the Confucius Institute.

                           


On November 5, the delegation met with representatives of UTPNG led by Professor Kina in Lae, the second-largest city of Papua New Guinea, and discussed arrangements for the Confucius Institute Board Meeting and signing ceremony scheduled for November 7.


On November 7, Fu Wensheng and his delegation held the Confucius Institute Board Meeting at UTPNG and listened to the work reports by the Chinese and foreign directors of the Confucius Institute. Both sides expressed their willingness to further deepen cooperation. The delegation also visited the public-funded teachers of the Confucius Institute. Afterwards, the two sides signed three cooperation memoranda and agreements, marking a new stage in the cooperation between the two universities.

                           


Relevant school and department heads of Chongqing Normal University, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at UTPNG, and other teachers and volunteers attended or accompanied the relevant activities.
